GoDaddy’s New Tempe Call Center – April 9, 2014
A stack of round duct stands at attention, waiting to be deployed. The inside has undergone some major work since I was last inside the building. Lots of walls are going up, the second floor has been poured. Fire sprinkler lines are going in.
This area will contain men’s and woman’s restrooms, along with some utility rooms, and maybe an office or two.
The main entrance is growing closer to being done. All of the major steel work seems to be finished.

Fireproofing the steel. The plastic is to catch most of the over spray. The rest is just swept up. The ceiling is then painted white, which you can see in one of the above images. More Zachary – March 20, 2014
More pictures of Zachary. The top image is over sharpened, and the contrast is boosted up, except on the skin tones. Zachary is such a good little man. ALWAYS so happy. He is looking at ….. his dad! If he sat still for more than a minute or two, I could get him to look anywhere I wanted, as long as his dad was there. Even crawling and running around, he always knew where dad was. DJ and Zachary were a blast to photograph. Hope you enjoy the pictures!!! Zachary – March 18, 2014
DJ and Zachary wanted some family photo’s so we made a trip to the Estrella Mountain Ranch, lake area. Zachary was not feeling 100%, but you would never know it watching him walk, and crawl around. DJ and I were kept busy chasing the little guy. This is one of my favorites of the day. Other images from the shoot can be seen here. All images shot with the Canon 5D Mark II, EF 24-105 F4 L lens, with a .6 ND filter to knock down the sun just a little, and then a Canon 580 EX II Speedlight was camera mounted for flash fill. This image as shot at F4, creating some really good bokeh, (the blurred background).
Steel Tree – March 14, 2014
So Josh, Josiah, and James were supposed to go shoot after work on Tuesday. One of us came up with an excuse, the other two had a blast. We went to the Gilbert riparian preserve. About 6 or 7 miles from work. The weather was nice, the area is starting to green up, lots of birds, and bunnies. Josiah was shooting a rare ivory-billed woodpecker in a tree. I was able to shoot a dodo, or a doodoo, I’ve heard it both ways. I always enjoy shooting with other photographers, as I always come away learning something new, or gaining a new perspective. Josh, hope you can make it next time!
Tempe Call Center – March 6, 2014
There were burgers galore at the roof topping off event at GoDaddy’s new Tempe call center.
This wide opening is a window that can be fully opened in good weather, the cafe will be inside. The beam above everyone’s head is the one that was signed last week.
The beam will get coated with fire proofing material.

The building will be VERY open, and you will be able to see from one end to the other.

I love to be able to go up to the roof. You really get a scope of how big this building will be.
I’m on the end of the building from phase 2, looking back towards phase 1. The roof has multiple layers of foam insulation, with a rubber material over the top of that. The roof is designed to funnel the water from the building and move it into the lake across the street.

The windows are in on most of the phase 2 areas, the beams have been fire proofed.

Roof Topping Off Party – February 28th 2014
Its nice to be invited back onto the jobsite again. This is the “Roof Topping Off” event. I was able to walk around the jobsite and take pictures. Things are really moving along now.
Lots of construction workers on the job. As always SAFETY is always a big factor, as I put on a bright orange vest and hard hat.
Yes! I added the Go Daddy sticker in post. You can see the steel through the windows. Part of the design of the building must be to have the square knock outs above the windows, or thats where the steel awnings will be attached.
I was being artistic, call it photograpic license.
This view is through the other side, right by where the cafe will be. I’ve now seen the artists renderings of the inside of the building…. I’m sworn to secrecy. It will dazzel and amaze you. I can’t wait to try out the great big ______! And to also try out the ______ _____!

Lots of steel work going on. The tour was timed for the workers to be on lunch, so the jobsite was very quiet. I’m amazed at how much has been done since last time I was on site.
Lunch was provided, and the food was excellent. Vince did a great job of keeping this big of a group safe, while giving us an informative tour. While we were there, concrete was being poured, steel was being put into place, lots of sub contractors were on site getting work done. GoDaddy’s New Tempe Call Center – February 15, 2014
More infrastructure. PVC pipe for electricial, or data ?? This area is closest to the 101 access road, and Warner.
Lots of steel on the ground, and within the building. There is a crane inside to help lift the steel in place. This is the southwest corner of the jobsite. Warner and South River Parkway. Yes I added the moon.

This image was shot from the north west area of the jobsite. Notice window frames are in place in the north end of the building.
This image is by the job trailer. The north east end of the job site. Window frames in some of the window openings, and you can see that the steel is starting to march into the last 3rd of the building.
This trailer just relocated from the north east corner of the jobsite, up against the 101 access road, to being up against the fence line along Warner. I “tagged” the Ryan trailer with the Go Daddy Dude!!, and it is getting cleser to “Go Time!”
Bad Moon Rising….? – February 10, 2014
Bad moon rising?…… a little photoshop work here. The moon was out, even in the same place, but I shot it with the 70-200 and then added it back in to the picture, but at about 3 times its real size. I shot another 40 or so pictures of the jobsite – all are here.
So the smaller picture in the center was shot January 11, 2014. Top left image was shot January 18th. Top right image was shot January 25th. Bottom left image shot February 1st. Bottom right photo was taken February 7th. The building is changing daily now. I’m amazed at how much is changing every time I go by the construction site.

Shot from Warner, this shows the steel that will tie the walls together, and incorporate the second floor, and roof. Lots of work getting done.

Happy New Year – January 1, 2014
First Solar sits right off the freeway, across from Tempe Town Lake. Driving home the past month or so, they have used the screens that open and close to allow more or less light into the building to spell out words. PEACE – JOY – on September 11th 9-11. I was pleasantly surprised today with 2014. Canon 5D Mark II, EF 24-105 F4 IS L glass.
Tempe Town Lake – December 29, 2013
I worked an overtime shift Sunday night that ended about 11:30pm or so. I drive home past Tempe Town Lake, and the water appearead to be as smooth as glass. I got off the freeway, and got the tripod and camera gear out. All images are taken with 5 to 30 second exposures. All images with the Canon 5D Mark II, EF 24-105 F4 IS L lens. Cars – December 6, 2013
I stopped at Pep Boys on my way home. The bug was sitting there just begging for its picture to be taken. My buddy Josiah is a VW guy, this shot is for him.
This Olds Cutlas was driving down the freeway. Steady 65 mph, not that it would attract any attention. I’m not even sure it would be considered “street legal”. Shot out of the front, and side windows. Someone has a lot of cash involved in this project.
Rosalie Messner – December 4, 2013

Rosalie had her hip replaced today. In reality they replaced the ball on the end of her femur that goes into the hip. All went really well, and she will be walking tomorrow with a walker, and be home by Friday. This was shot around 7:30pm, her surgery was at approx 3pm and was complete at approx 5pm. She was, and is doing really good.
New Windsor Hotel – November 18, 2013
The New Windsor Hotel in downtown Phoenix is not so new. I could’nt find a whole lot of information on it, but it looks like its been here for awhile. I was driving thru downtown just before dawn, and had to shoot this with the neon sign blaring out “take my picture”, or “New Windsor Hotel”, one of the two.
City Hall – November 14, 2013
This is a sunburst on the front of city of Phoenix’s city hall. I’ve always liked the building, and the sunburst, but never photographed it before. Canon 5D Mark II, EF 24-105 F4 IS L lens, ISO 100, 1/200 sec.
Kendall Jackson Winery – November 10,2013
When we were in Petaluma, CA we had a chance to visit a winery. It was a last minute decision, and with a lot of the wineries you have to have reservations. We were able to walk around Kendall Jackson, sample some wines, which really meant purchase a case, or so and have a fun morning. Post processing in lightroom, to remove Tommy, and bump up the saturation a little bit.

So at the pizza party at Art and Ron’s, this is what the tables looked like. Another composite with the same bottle, full sized, to give you an idea of just how much information, or how large the native image is out of the camera.
Golden Gate Bridge – November 6, 2013
So I made a couple of composite images last night. The tower on the left, is the full size image from the right. The 22 megapixel images the Canon 5D Mark II produces can create very large printable images, and extremely large images for a computer to handle. I shoot RAW. The raw image out of the camera for the above image is 25.5 mb. After processing, saved as a “uncompressed tif” file is 60.1 mb. Lots of information is available from raw images.
