Lakers colors – April 19, 2013

Lakers colors

This image was shot April 19, 2012. I liked the contrast of the in focus purple flowers against the out of focus yellow flowers. Laker colors. I’m a SUNS fan. This was a rough year to say the least. Shot with the Canon 30D, ISO-100, F4, 200mm, 1/640 sec.

Desert Botanical Garden – April 17, 2013

Agave buds

The Desert Botanical Garden is in the Phoenix – Tempe, Arizona area. Josiah and I spent an afternoon walking some of the 140 acre park, and of course taking pictures. This is an agave cactus getting ready to bloom. They get these stalks that grow very vast, and very tall. Then arms, shoots come out and the buds form, then open up. Some agave cactus bloom only once, then die, like century cactus. Shot late April 2012.  Shot with  with the Canon 30D, ISO-100, F4, 1/2000 sec, 200mm.

Desert Botanical Garden – April 15, 2013

Bug Party

The Desert Botanical Garden is in the Phoenix – Tempe, Arizona area. Josiah and I spent an afternoon walking some of the 140 acre park, and of course taking pictures. These bugs were having a grand old time right outside the enterance. I’m not sure if these guys could fly, or not. The bright red on the muted cactus stalks was quite a contrast. Shot with  with the Canon 30D, ISO-100, 1/800 sec, 200mm, and F4 is what keeps the bugs in focus, and blows out the background, bokah.

83rd Ave EXIT ONLY – April 5, 2013

83rd Ave - Exit Only

This image was shot just after sun down. The shutter was open 10 seconds so you could see motion in the tail lights on the right side, and motion in the head lights on the left side of the picture. Why 83rd Ave exit? There is a car pool parking lot, with its own entrance/exit from the car pool lanes to head east into Phoenix, with very little traffic in the evenings, so I could set up a tripod, and play with long exposures till I got the results I was looking for. Not much traffic in the car pool lane this late at night. Shot with the Canon 30D, ISO-400, F29 to keep things tack sharp through out the image, 10 seconds, and 50mm. As mentioned on my tripod.
