More Zachary – March 20, 2014

Zachary2 Zachary1
More pictures of Zachary. The top image is over sharpened, and the contrast is boosted up, except on the skin tones. Zachary is such a good little man. ALWAYS so happy. He is looking at ….. his dad! If he sat still for more than a minute or two, I could get him to look anywhere I wanted, as long as his dad was there. Even crawling and running around, he always knew where dad was. DJ and Zachary were a blast to photograph. Hope you enjoy the pictures!!! All images shot with the Canon 5D Mark II, EF 24-105 F4 IS L lens, a Canon 580 EX II Speedlight camera mounted for flash fill.

Estrella Mountain Ranch – March 19, 2014

Estrella Mountain Ranch1

Estrella Mountain Ranch

I took a couple of shots out at Estrella Mountain Park, around the lake. Weekends there are photographers all over the place. I was out here on a Monday, and not a lot of photographers. Lots of very beautiful areas for portraits. Canon 5D Mark II, EF 17-40 F4 L lens, both images at 17mm. I was wanting to be very wide.

Zachary – March 18, 2014

Zachary

DJ and Zachary wanted some family photo’s so we made a trip to the Estrella Mountain Ranch, lake area. Zachary was not feeling 100%, but you would never know it watching him walk, and crawl around. DJ and I were kept busy chasing the little guy. This is one of my favorites of the day. Other images from the shoot can be seen here.  All images shot with the Canon 5D Mark II, EF 24-105 F4 L lens, with a .6 ND filter to knock down the sun just a little, and then a Canon 580 EX II Speedlight was camera mounted for flash fill. This image as shot at F4, creating some really good bokeh, (the blurred background).

Weekend Chores – March 17, 2014

H A P P Y  S A I N T  P A T R I C K S  D A Y!!

Blowing off the driveway, walkway, sidewalk, and street. Then mowing the front yard. Then spreading a “weed and feed” fertilizer. Last ….. add water. All 297 images shot with the 30D, EF 17-40 F4 L lens at 17mm. 1 image soht every 10 seconds.

Full Moon – March 16, 2014 9:30PM

dual moons 1

So the difference between a DSLR with a “full frame” sensor, and a “cropped” APS C sized sensor is very noticable when you are shooting a full moon. Tripod mounted, both shot within 5 minutes or so of each other. Both using the EF 70-200 F2.8 IS “L” lens. The left moon is shot at 200 mm with the Canon 5D Mark II, with a 35mm, or full frame sensor. The right image was shot with my Canon 30D with a APS C, or cropped sensor. The 200 mm lens gets multiplied by 1.6, the crop factor of the lens, equaling 320 mm. I’l post a shot tomorrow using the EF 17-40 F4 “L” lens, at 17 mm, from both cameras to show the difference at the other end of the spectrum.

dual moons 2

Full disclosure….. the image above is the size the moon appears at 200mm, and 320mm respectively. The top picture  has the exact same perspective, I just cropped the moon at full size to enahance the difference.

Steel Tree – March 14, 2014

Birds Birds1 hand pump Joshiah Steel Tree

So Josh, Josiah, and James were supposed to go shoot after work on Tuesday. One of us came up with an excuse, the other two had a blast. We went to the Gilbert riparian preserve. About 6 or 7 miles from work. The weather was nice, the area is starting to green up, lots of birds, and bunnies. Josiah was shooting a rare ivory-billed woodpecker in a tree. I was able to shoot a dodo, or a doodoo, I’ve heard it both ways. I always enjoy shooting with other photographers, as I always come away learning something new, or gaining a new perspective. Josh, hope you can make it next time!

Palm Tree Trimming – March 10, 2014

So I set up the Canon 30D to take a shot every 5 minutes, and trimmed the first of 3 palm trees. 1 picture of the tree, before, and 1 picture of the tree, after. Thats not going to be a very exiciting time lapse video…. Second tree, I set up to take a picture every 1 minute 30 seconds. 5 pictures total….. 3re and last palm tree, I took a picture every 10 seconds…. heres the results….

Tempe Call Center – March 6, 2014

GoDaddy 13

There were burgers galore at the roof topping off event at GoDaddy’s new Tempe call center.

GoDaddy 3

This wide opening is a window that can be fully opened in good weather, the cafe will be inside. The beam above everyone’s head is the one that was signed last week.

GoDaddy 2

The beam will get coated with fire proofing material.

GoDaddy 5

?????

GoDaddy 4

The building will be VERY open, and you will be able to see from one end to the other.

GoDaddy 6

Looking from the second phase towards the first phase from the second floor. The steel workers are really flying along.

GoDaddy 7

I love to be able to go up to the roof. You really get a scope of how big this building will be.

GoDaddy 8

I’m on the end of the building from phase 2, looking back towards phase 1. The roof has multiple layers of foam insulation, with a rubber material over the top of that. The roof is designed to funnel the water from the building and move it into the lake across the street.

GoDaddy 9

Some small vents to handle air flow into the building.

GoDaddy 10

Looking at the roof on phase 1, before the foam and coating go on. This area was off – limits. Again SAFETY first.

GoDaddy 11

Camera sitting on the wall, pointing to the stairs.

GoDaddy 12

Looking to the Ryan job trailors…. did I mention that I like having roof access?

GoDaddy 14

The windows are in on most of the phase 2 areas, the beams have been fire proofed.

All images shot with the Canon 5D Mark II, EF 24-105 F4 L lens, the Canon Speedlight 580 EX II camera mounted for flash fill, and for most of the indoor pictures. ALL of the images I’ve shot so far of the project are here. (most of them) Sworn to secrecy, remember….?

Wandering around on the jobsite, I ran across this handsome fellow.

Roof Topping Off Party – February 28th 2014

GoDaddy 19

Its nice to be invited back onto the jobsite again. This is the “Roof Topping Off” event. I was able to walk around the jobsite and take pictures. Things are really moving along now.

GoDaddy 20

Lots of construction workers on the job. As always SAFETY is always a big factor, as I put on a bright orange vest and hard hat.

GoDaddy 21

Yes! I added the Go Daddy sticker in post. You can see the steel through the windows. Part of the design of the building must be to have the square knock outs above the windows, or thats where the steel awnings will be attached.

GoDaddy 22

I was being artistic, call it photograpic license.

GoDaddy 23

This view is through the other side, right by where the cafe will be. I’ve now seen the artists renderings of the inside of the building…. I’m sworn to secrecy. It will dazzel and amaze you. I can’t wait to try out the great big ______! And to also try out the ______ _____!

GoDaddy 24

This is the main entrance.

GoDaddy 25

As normal, all images shot with the Canon 5D Mark II, EF 24-105 L lens, the Speedlight 580 EX II camera mounted for flash fill, and most of the inside photographs. I took approx 250 pictures on Friday. I’ll post more over the next couple of days. All images can be seen here.

The entire group getting a tour of the new Tempe Call Center. Where everyone is standing is on the second floor, at the edge of the first third of the building.

GoDaddy 16

Vince, Blake, and Auguste standing in the cafe area, looking back twards the north end of the building.

GoDaddy 17

Lots of steel work going on. The tour was timed for the workers to be on lunch, so the jobsite was very quiet. I’m amazed at how much has been done since last time I was on site.

GoDaddy 18

Lunch was provided, and the food was excellent. Vince did a great job of keeping this big of a group safe, while giving us an informative tour. While we were there,  concrete was being poured, steel was being put into place, lots of sub contractors were on site getting work done. All images shot with the Canon 5D Mark II, EF 24-105 F4 L lens, some flash fill was used, Canon 580EX II Speedlight, camera mounted. I have lots more pictures to post…… will try to get them processed tomorrow…  ALL OF THE IMAGES I’VE SHOT SO FAR ARE HERE!

GoDaddy’s New Tempe Call Center – February 15, 2014

GoDaddy 05

More infrastructure. PVC pipe for electricial, or data ?? This area is closest to the 101 access road, and Warner.

GoDaddy 03

Lots of steel on the ground, and within the building. There is a crane inside to help lift the steel in place. This is the southwest corner of the jobsite. Warner and South River Parkway. Yes I added the moon.

GoDaddy Aerial

LOL – This image is on GoogleMaps right now.

GoDaddy 07

This image was shot from the north west area of the jobsite. Notice window frames are in place in the north end of the building.

GoDaddy 06

This image is by the job trailer. The north east end of the job site. Window frames in some of the window openings, and you can see that the steel is starting to march into the last 3rd of the building.

GoDaddy 04

This trailer just relocated from the north east corner of the jobsite, up against the 101 access road, to being up against the fence line along Warner. I “tagged” the Ryan trailer with the Go Daddy Dude!!, and it is getting cleser to “Go Time!”

St Thomas Aquinas Church – February 1, 2014

St Thomas

After church Saturday night, on my way home, the last light from the suns rays were lighting up St Th0mas Aquinas Church. I had my Canon 5D Mark II, my tripod, and my EF 17-40 F4 L lens. This was shot at 17mm, ISO-200, 6 second exposure at F8.

On the jobsite!! – January 28, 2013

GoDaddy 31

View of the new building from INSIDE the fence, right outside of the job trailer.

GoDaddy 19

I used the EF17-40 F4 L lens for every shot I took today on the site. Its my widest lens, and worked out well for as close as I was to this hugh building. 150,000 square feet once its done. The temp stairway is the quickest and safest way to the buildings roof.

GoDaddy 27

Yep, thats me in the corner. Even up here on the roof, SAFETY is everyones concern. Caution tape marks areas that are out of bounds. This is the area of the roof that will house equiptment, air conditioners, etc.

GoDaddy 28

Looking down towards the Ryan construction trailer. For any of you who still think this building is “not that big”, these images should give you a better “scope” of the size of the new building.

GoDaddy 29

The steel is in 1/3 of the building, so approx 50,000 square feet, comprising of both floors. I zoomed in a little bit for this shot looking twards Warner, to make it look like I was closer to the edge then I was. The caution tape keeps you a good 15-20 feet from the edge. Again SAFETY. The elevator shaft is in the middle of the picture, on the right side. The openings for 2 elevators, 2 floors are clear to see. To the right of this area will be the main entrance/lobby area. To the left of the elevators will be training rooms, and the gym areas. At the far end of the building, closest to Warner will be the kitchen and restaurant areas.

GoDaddy 30

Many thanks to Rene LeBlanc, GoDaddy faculities, and Vince Morrow, Ryan Companies for the tour, and answering my many questions. Thanks also to Calvin Crowder, GoDaddy for making today possible. Rene was kind enough to hold my EF24-105 lens for most of the tour of the jobsite today.

GoDaddy 21

Back on the ground.

GoDaddy 20

You can see lots of sub contractors getting work done. The jobsite was very organized, and extremely busy. Lots of work getting done. Block layers on top of the scaffolding. The backhoe is working in the bathrooms area of the gym.

GoDaddy 22

Gym area, looking towards the main lobby area.

GoDaddy 23

One of the main stairwells, and the kitchen areas.

GoDaddy 24

Camera sitting on the ground, right by the kitchen area pointing back to the elevators area.

GoDaddy 25

This will be seating area for the restaurant. The hugh windows, will actually be doors and will be open weather permitting, winter time, and you will be able to sit outside on a patio, or inside. I can hardly wait.

GoDaddy 26

Camera on the ground by the elevator area. There is a lot of steel going into the building.

GoDaddy 32

We started and ended in the job trailer. Hard hats and bright vests are required on the jobsite. Everyones number 1 responsibility is SAFETY. All of the images from todays shoot, as well as all of the images I’ve shot of the site from outside the fence are availble here.   http://x.co/3lBtX

Steel on site – January 25, 2014

GoDaddy 17

Shot from Warner, this shows the steel that will tie the walls together, and incorporate the second floor, and roof. Lots of work getting done.

GoDaddy 18

Some serious dirt work is getting done, again the right tools for the right job! Canon 5D Mark II, EF 24-105 F4 IS L glass.

Soooooooooo….. There are some walls up at the new call center. I drove by after work Saturday, and was pleasantly surprised. The forms have been removed from the additional poured in place “moulds”. It is starting to look like a building. I’ll try to get by middle of the week and see if they have erected the rest of the poured in place walls. I’ld like permission to get into the site to take pictures…… just sayin. The rest of the images I shot on saturday are here.

Happy New Year – January 1, 2014

First Solar

First Solar sits right off the freeway, across from Tempe Town Lake. Driving home the past month or so, they have used the screens that open and close to allow more or less light into the building to spell out words. PEACE – JOY – on September 11th  9-11. I was pleasantly surprised today with 2014. Canon 5D Mark II, EF 24-105 F4 IS L glass.

I worked an overtime shift Sunday night that ended about 11:30pm or so. I drive home past Tempe Town Lake, and the water appearead to be as smooth as glass. I got off the freeway, and got the tripod and camera gear out. All images are taken with 5 to 30 second exposures. All images with the Canon 5D Mark II, EF 24-105 F4 IS L lens. ALL images from this shoot are here.

Some of the “walls” that were poured in place, have the “moulds” removed. The others have been “poured” since last week. Also a new crane is on site, along with some new steel girders? Looks like they are getting to put the first couple of walls into place. More “dirt work” is also being done. All pictures taken with the Canon 5D Mark II, EF 70-200 F2.8 IS L lens. ALL OF THE PHICTURES I’VE TAKEN OF THE NEW CALL CENTER ARE HERE.

9 Christmas services across 2 campuses. I was at the first 4 at the Goodyear campus. Pastor Ryan spoke for about 15 minutes, then Pastor Greg came out and essentially just prayed over the congregation. He was looking really good.
