Roof Access – May 8, 2014
This is the view from the top of the roof looking towards Warner and the 101. I love having roof access. Its amazing how much was done in the last week.
Vents for the air handling system.
This is a small part of the equipment that was craned onto the roof last week. Most of that equipment is fully assembled, OK probably not, but a lot of it is bolted together.
Looking towards the 101, you can see the cooling towers, and in the empty space on the right, I believe will go the back up generators.
Looking from the roof of phase 1 toward the Ryan trailer. Lots of cars and trucks on site, again multiple trades, and close to 100 workers on site.
One of the light poles getting filled with cement. Shot from the second floor, looking down on the workers.
More 2×4 steel studs going up. Lots of new drywall work as well. Spaces are being defined……. I wonder if I’ll get my own office…… Just a thought!
AC vents lined up on the ground. Looks like pieces of a very large and complex puzzle.
The framing crew is knocking it out of the park. I’m visiting the job site almost every week, and I can’t believe how much work gets done…..
Ben, one of the electricians ….. measuring twice, and cutting once. Good advice.
Ground floor looking up into the “hole” going up to the second floor……. interesting.
Same “hole” looking from the second floor down to the first. All images shot so far can be seen here. All images shot with the Canon 5D Mark II, today I mostly used the EF 17-40 F4 L lens. The Canon Speedlight 580 EX II was camera mounted for flash fill on many of the interior shots.
GoDaddy’s New Tempe Call Center – May 1, 2014
Lots of work going on. I’m not sure how many trades are on site, but there are between 75-100 workers on site each day. Over 1500 photographs from August 2013 – present can be seen here.
This is a form for one of the light poles. Ever wonder whats in the concrete base of a light pole…….
Lots of re-bar, electrical conduit to bring in the power, and electrical conduit to “ground” the power. You can see the coil of copper wire at the bottom, and attached to the re-bar.
I was not allowed on parts of the job site, as they were using a crane to lift the equipment to the roof. Large, heavy, equipment, so the area around the crane was off limits, and so was the roof. š I really like going up on the roof. Later on this week, I’ll be able to see all the changes that they made on the roof. š The number one concern on the job site is and always be ” S A F E T Y ”
YES !!!!! I tagged this “cooler” or “air handler” with a giant GoDaddy sticker……… in post production.
Fire proofing is almost done. This was shot from the 1st floor, he is on the second floor.
Painting crews are trying to stay ahead of the other trades. Electricians, painters, plumbers, fire proofing, steel workers, air conditioning, insulation workers, window installers, door installers, fire sprinkler fitters, are all on site and really moving along. The framers, drywall teams, along with the people polishing the walkways. I’m sure there are more trades on site. There was a crew washing the external block walls with the small square windows. There are crews that are sweeping…. did I mention there are a lot of people working on the site to complete this project on time?
This in an interesting area…….. a hole going from the second floor to the first….. not in the main lobby reception area, but behind that area ….. i n t e r e s t i n g …….Ā Over 1500 photographs from August 2013 – present can be seen here.
Canon 5D Mark II, EF17-40 F4 L lens, inside shots Canon Speedlight 580 EX II camera mounted on camera for fill.
GoDaddy’s New Tempe Call Center – April 25, 2014
Went by the job site yesterday. There must have been 75-100 different workers. Above shots from outside, ground work continuing,Ā both water lines/fire hydrant lines, and drainage. Paint going on a few of the exterior panels, and the inside of the roof area is all painted.
Steel framing inside and out continues. I cant believe how much work got done in the last week.
The interior changes are really accelerating. The fire proofing material is 80-90% done. The windows are 65-75% done. I imagine that by next week, that the windows and doors will all be in place.
Elevators are in. This area is still off limits, but I imagine the areas around the elevators themselves will be buttoned up fairly quickly. Floor polishing is still going on in the walkways.
OK, you’ve seen a similar shot before. I really like the reflections, and patterns they make. Over 1500 images shot so far, and all can be seen here. As always all shot with the Canon 5D Mark II, EF 24-105 F4 IS L lens, with the Canon Speedlight 580 EX II camera mounted for flash fill on some of the interior shots.
GoDaddy’s new Tempe Call Center – April 17, 2014
Some times you look at something in a different way….. Reflections from water, windows, mirrors, …. can create some very unique patterns.
This is a cooling tower, in a separate building.
Equipment is being added everywhere. I need to ask Vince what this room is housing. Its at the corner closest to Warner and the 101 freeways. In the area of the kitchen/cafe area.
Looking down from the 2nd floor, by the lobby into the cafe area.
1st floor, polishing the floor. This will be a main walkway, speedway, course, whatever you want to call it.
2nd floor covering to keep the polished floor clean. Both of these areas are in phase 2. You can also see lots of metal studs for drywall. There is some drywall work that is new in the last 10 days.
90 degree bends for the air vents.
ELEVATORS are being installed!!!!! This is looking in one of the “doors” on the second floor, looking up. The workers had the area roped off while they were working.
ELEVATORS, this shot from the first floor, looking up. That is the bottom of both elevators.
Lots of changes in 10 days at the call center. This corner is mostly buttoned up.
The roof is very close to being finished. The foam and rubber roofing is 90-95% complete. The air handling / equipment areas are filling up, and being painted. Today was about 92 degrees outside. The roof felt 15-20 degrees hotter with all of the white reflective materials.
Cutting through the roof for access from one of the utility closets on the second floor.
Another selfie ………..
As always… all the images from the New Tempe Call Center can be seen here, and all were shot with the Canon 5D Mark II, EF 24-105 F4 IS L lens, and on indoor images flash fill provided by the 580 EX II Speedlight, camera mounted.
GoDaddy’s New Tempe Call Center – April 9, 2014
A stack of round duct stands at attention, waiting to be deployed. The inside has undergone some major work since I was last inside the building. Lots of walls are going up, the second floor has been poured. Fire sprinkler lines are going in.
This area will contain men’s and woman’s restrooms, along with some utility rooms, and maybe an office or two.
The main entrance is growing closer to being done. All of the major steel work seems to be finished.
View from the lobby area second floor, looking into the cafeteria seating area. This will feel, and be very open.
Fireproofing the steel. The plastic is to catch most of the over spray. The rest is just swept up. The ceiling is then painted white, which you can see in one of the above images.Ā All images shot with the Canon 5D Mark II, EF 24-105 F4 IS L lens, on the interior shots the Canon Speedlight 580 EX II was camera mounted for flash fill. All of the images from the Tempe Call Center can be seen here.
Tempe Call Center – March 6, 2014
There were burgers galore at the roof topping off event at GoDaddy’s new Tempe call center.
This wide opening is a window that can be fully opened in good weather, the cafe will be inside. The beam above everyone’s head is the one that was signed last week.
The beam will get coated with fire proofing material.
?????
The building will be VERY open, and you will be able to see from one end to the other.
Looking from the second phase towards the first phase from the second floor. The steel workers are really flying along.
I love to be able to go up to the roof. You really get a scope of how big this building will be.
I’m on the end of the building from phase 2, looking back towards phase 1. The roof has multiple layers of foam insulation, with a rubber material over the top of that. The roof is designed to funnel the water from the building and move it into the lake across the street.
Some small vents to handle air flow into the building.
Looking at the roof on phase 1, before the foam and coating go on. This area was off – limits. Again SAFETY first.
Camera sitting on the wall, pointing to the stairs.
Looking to the Ryan job trailors…. did I mention that I like having roof access?
The windows are in on most of the phase 2 areas, the beams have been fire proofed.
All images shot with the Canon 5D Mark II, EF 24-105 F4 L lens, the Canon Speedlight 580 EX II camera mounted for flash fill, and for most of the indoor pictures. ALL of the images I’ve shot so far of the project are here. (most of them) Sworn to secrecy, remember….?
Roof Topping Off Party – February 28th 2014
Its nice to be invited back onto the jobsite again. This is the “Roof Topping Off” event. I was able to walk around the jobsite and take pictures. Things are really moving along now.
Lots of construction workers on the job. As always SAFETY is always a big factor, as I put on a bright orange vest and hard hat.
Yes! I added the Go Daddy sticker in post. You can see the steel through the windows. Part of the design of the building must be to have the square knock outs above the windows, or thats where the steel awnings will be attached.
I was being artistic, call it photograpic license.
This view is through the other side, right by where the cafe will be. I’ve now seen the artists renderings of the inside of the building…. I’m sworn to secrecy. It will dazzel and amaze you. I can’t wait to try out the great big ______! And to also try out the ______ _____!
This is the main entrance.
As normal, all images shot with the Canon 5D Mark II, EF 24-105 L lens, the Speedlight 580 EX II camera mounted for flash fill, and most of the inside photographs. I took approx 250 pictures on Friday. I’ll post more over the next couple of days. All images can be seen here.
Signing Steel – February 19, 2014
Blake signing the 2500 pound steel girder that will hold up the roof just inside the main loby of GoDaddy’s new Tempe call center.
Blake signing the ceremonial plack.
Auguste signing the 2500 pound steel girder that will hold up the roof just inside the main loby of GoDaddy’s new Tempe call center.

Calvin signing the 2500 pound steel girder that will hold up the roof just inside the main loby of GoDaddy’s new Tempe call center.
Calvin signing the ceremonial plack.
From left to right Chuck Nixon, Mark Beal, Vince Morrow, Ramon Martinez, Gonzo Gonzalez, Tanya Simpson, Shawn Fitzpatrick, Arne Josefsberg, Auguste Goldman, Blake Irving, Cameron Scott, Michelle Goodlive, Mike Zimmerman, Calvin Crowder, Molly Carson, Cindy Olsen, Ryan, Rene LeBlanc. The entire group getting a tour of the new Tempe Call Center. Where everyone is standing is on the second floor, at the edge of the first third of the building.
Vince, Blake, and Auguste standing in the cafe area, looking back twards the north end of the building.
Lots of steel work going on. The tour was timed for the workers to be on lunch, so the jobsite was very quiet. I’m amazed at how much has been done since last time I was on site.
Lunch was provided, and the food was excellent. Vince did a great job of keeping this big of a group safe, while giving us an informative tour. While we were there,Ā concrete was being poured, steel was being put into place, lots of sub contractors were on site getting work done. All images shot with the Canon 5D Mark II, EF 24-105 F4 L lens, some flash fill was used, Canon 580EX II Speedlight, camera mounted. I have lots more pictures to post…… will try to get them processed tomorrow…Ā ALL OF THE IMAGES I’VE SHOT SO FAR ARE HERE!
GoDaddy’s New Tempe Call Center – February 15, 2014
More infrastructure. PVC pipe for electricial, or data ?? This area is closest to the 101 access road, and Warner.
Lots of steel on the ground, and within the building. There is a crane inside to help lift the steel in place. This is the southwest corner of the jobsite. Warner and South River Parkway. Yes I added the moon.
LOL – This image is on GoogleMaps right now.
This image was shot from the north west area of the jobsite. Notice window frames are in place in the north end of the building.
This image is by the job trailer. The north east end of the job site. Window frames in some of the window openings, and you can see that the steel is starting to march into the last 3rd of the building.
This trailer just relocated from the north east corner of the jobsite, up against the 101 access road, to being up against the fence line along Warner.Ā I “tagged” the Ryan trailer with the Go Daddy Dude!!, and it is getting cleser to “Go Time!”
Bad Moon Rising….? – February 10, 2014
Bad moon rising?…… a little photoshop work here. The moon was out, even in the same place, but I shot it with the 70-200 and then added it back in to the picture, but at about 3 times its real size. I shot anotherĀ 40 or so pictures of the jobsite – all are here.
So the smaller picture in the center was shot January 11, 2014. Top left image was shot January 18th. Top right image was shot January 25th. Bottom left image shot February 1st. Bottom right photo was taken February 7th. The building is changing daily now. I’m amazed at how much is changing every time I go by the construction site.
GoDaddy’s New Tempe Call Center – January 31, 2014
View from Warner. Lots of action happening inside the walls, and some things outside. The main stairwell on this end is growing and should be complete soon.
The braces will be removed, only after the steel inside for the second floor and roof are tied to the walls.
This is also shot from Warner. This will be the main entrance. Left side may be complete, the right side grows daily.
View from by the job trailer, looking twards Warner. You can see the main stairwell from the backside, here. The braces appear to all be gone from the area where the steel is tying the first 50,000 square feet together. All of the images I shot Friday after work can be seen here. http://x.co/3lBtX
On the jobsite!! – January 28, 2013
View of the new building from INSIDE the fence, right outside of the job trailer.
I used the EF17-40 F4 L lens for every shot I took today on the site. Its my widest lens, and worked out well for as close as I was to this hugh building. 150,000 square feet once its done. The temp stairway is the quickest and safest way to the buildings roof.
Yep, thats me in the corner. Even up here on the roof, SAFETY is everyones concern. Caution tape marks areas that are out of bounds. This is the area of the roof that will house equiptment, air conditioners, etc.
Looking down towards the Ryan construction trailer. For any of you who still think this building is “not that big”, these images should give you a better “scope” of the size of the new building.
The steel is in 1/3 of the building, so approx 50,000 square feet, comprising of both floors. I zoomed in a little bit for this shot looking twards Warner, to make it look like I was closer to the edge then I was. The caution tape keeps you a good 15-20 feet from the edge. Again SAFETY. The elevator shaft is in the middle of the picture, on the right side. The openings for 2 elevators, 2 floors are clear to see. To the right of this area will be the main entrance/lobby area. To the left of the elevators will be training rooms, and the gym areas. At the far end of the building, closest to Warner will be the kitchen and restaurant areas.
Many thanks to Rene LeBlanc, GoDaddy faculities, and Vince Morrow, Ryan Companies for the tour, and answering my many questions. Thanks also to Calvin Crowder, GoDaddy for making today possible. Rene was kind enough to hold my EF24-105 lens for most of the tour of the jobsite today.
Back on the ground.
You can see lots of sub contractors getting work done. The jobsite was very organized, and extremely busy. Lots of work getting done. Block layers on top of the scaffolding. The backhoe is working in the bathrooms area of the gym.
Gym area, looking towards the main lobby area.
One of the main stairwells, and the kitchen areas.
Camera sitting on the ground, right by the kitchen area pointing back to the elevators area.
This will be seating area for the restaurant. The hugh windows, will actually be doors and will be open weather permitting, winter time, and you will be able to sit outside on a patio, or inside. I can hardly wait.
Camera on the ground by the elevator area. There is a lot of steel going into the building.
We started and ended in the job trailer. Hard hats and bright vests are required on the jobsite. Everyones number 1 responsibility is SAFETY. All of the images from todays shoot, as well as all of the images I’ve shot of the site from outside the fence are availble here. Ā http://x.co/3lBtX
Steel on site – January 25, 2014
Shot from Warner, this shows the steel that will tie the walls together, andĀ incorporate the second floor, and roof. Lots of work getting done.
Some serious dirt work is getting done, again the right tools for the right job! Canon 5D Mark II, EF 24-105 F4 IS L glass.
Mirror, Mirror, … January 18, 2014
Shot Saturday after work. I’ll post more images of the site later on this weekend, or click here to see all of them. Canon 5D Mark II, EF 70-200 F2.8 IS L glass. Some manulipation in Adobe LR 4.4
Same image, 100% crop from one of the above images. Yes, thats me, another self portrait!
More Walls Up!!! – January 11, 2013
View from the job trailer.
Block work tying the walls together.
View from the area by the water tower.
View from warner.
Leaving, shot out the window from Warner and the 101. All images shot with the Canon 5D Mark II, EF70-200 F2.8 IS L, or EF24-105 F4 IS L glass.
Walls UP!! – January 4, 2014
Soooooooooo….. There are some walls up at the new call center. I drove by after work Saturday, and was pleasantly surprised. The forms have been removed from the additional poured in place “moulds”. It is starting to look like a building. I’ll try to get by middle of the week and see if they have erected the rest of the poured in place walls. I’ld like permission to get into the site to take pictures…… just sayin. The rest of the images I shot on saturday are here.
GoDaddy’s New Tempe Call Center – December 26, 2013
Some of the “walls” that were poured in place, have the “moulds” removed. The others have been “poured” since last week. Also a new crane is on site, along with some new steel girders? Looks like they are getting to put the first couple of walls into place. More “dirt work” is also being done. All pictures taken with the Canon 5D Mark II, EF 70-200 F2.8 IS L lens. ALL OF THE PHICTURES I’VE TAKEN OF THE NEW CALL CENTER ARE HERE.
GoDaddy’s Holiday Party December 14, 2013
So a little bit about this years Holiday Party. Bob Parsons and his wife Renee along with GoDaddy donated 2 million dollars the the Semper Fi Foundation. Blake Irvine GoDaddy’s CEO was also a guestĀ drummer for Big Blast and the Party Masters. Employees were randomly drawn to win $1K, $5K, $10K, and $25K after taxes. Congratulations to the luck winners. That includes EB & Mac!!! Ke$ha and Snoop Dogg were the entertainment at this years party. To see more of the images I shot click here.
GoDaddy’s new Tempe Call Center – December 3, 2013
It looks like things are moving along …. Lots of rebar in forms for the walls to get poured in place. Footers and bottom row of block in place for the fences around the outside of the building property.
Go Daddy’s New Tempe Call Center – November 26, 2013
I stopped by the new call center on my way home Saturday after work. With all the rain we got on Friday, and Saturday, the site is all mud, and puddles. Scaffolding has been delivered and is stacked up against the fence. Block for the fences is staged, the cement is on a pallet, double wrapped in plastic to keep it dry. Things look like they are progressing nicely. All images shot with Canon 5D Mark II, with 70-200 EF 2.8 IS L glass. My first images with this lens.
GoDaddy new Tempe Call Center – November 13, 2013
I drove by the site today after work. It looks like forms are in place, rebar is in the forms for the walls to be poured in place. Lots of activity today. Canon 5D Mark II, like always.
New GoDaddy Tempe Call Center – November 4, 2013
H A P P Y Ā Ā B I R T H D A YĀ Ā Ā B J Ā Ā S T A R R…. BJ would have been 60 years old today……
Looks like the phase 2 concrete has been poured. Underground, infrastructure seems to be progressing nicely…
The “lake” or pond is very low, this is where any runoff from the GoDaddy parking, grounds will end up as it makes its way into the lake.
Duck!!!
Water tower, shot from the pond, or lake area.
View from the slab, looking towards Warner and the 101. Camera set on the edge of the slab….
View from the slab, looking back towards the water tower, and existing buildings. The job trailer would be just off to the right of where the picture ends…
One of the slabs poured earlier……. not sure what they are being used for. The sun reflecting off the concrete almost makes it look wet. Nice cool cloudy day. Makes for nice photographs. Canon 5D Mark II, 24-105, and 70-200 f4 lenses. The site looks like its coming along nicely.
GoDaddy’s new Tempe Call Center – October 18, 2013
I drove by Warner and the 101 on my way home from work. I took several photos, but I’m only posting this one. The drainage pipes for the building, and parking lots seems to be in place, and they cross the road, and empty into the lake. Infrastructure seems to the main things that are getting done. I’ve driven by every week and took pictures, but I have not posted many of them. Now I’m trying to get on with life without my friend BJ Starr.
As this post is about GoDaddy I need to say that GoDaddy is the best company I’ve ever worked for. I always hear that we are like family, and with everything going on in my life, and the death of my friend, my bossās ALL said “what can we do for you”? I was given time off work, and everyone was very encouraging, and concerned with my needs. I’ve never experienced this type of support from a place of employment. Even now 2 weeks after BJ’s passing, a supervisor, or a manager will walk by, and take the time to ask me how Iām doing, and what can GoDaddy as a company help me with. I’m truly amazed and blessed to be working in this environment. From the bottom of my heart THANK YOU GODADDY!
