5 Tons of 1″ Palimino Gold – April 12, 2013

5 Tons of rock

So its time for another update on my side yard project. 5 tons of rock, equals 10,000 pounds. Let me put that another way. 29 wheel barrows full with rock. 40 shovels full of rock equal 1 wheel barrow full. 1160 shovels full of rock, and that’s just to move the rock from the driveway to the side yard. The project if nearing completion. Lots of sweat, and sore muscles. Canon 5D Mark II, ISO-100, F4, 17mm, 1/30 sec.

Lucy – April 11, 2013

Lucy

So Lucy was a ferrell cat. We came home from vacation a couple of years ago, and she had had a litter of kittens in our backyard. Max is one of that litter. The kittens soon became used to human contact, and once they got adopted out, we trapped Lucy and had her fixed. Her clipped left ear is an indicator that she has been fixed. Jazmin spent a lot of time taming Lucy. She is a talker and will follow Jazmin almost anywhere. Here Lucy is posing in front of an orange wall, which really brings out her beautiful marknigs. Lucy will tolerate me, but strictly on her terms. I think she knows I’m the one who trapped her. Canon 5D Mark II, ISO-100, F4, 105mm, 1/160 sec, with the Speedlight 580 EXII camera mounted, bounced off the ceiling.

Aftermath of storm – April 10, 2013

Dirty Avalon

So my car sat out on the driveway. It was dirty anyway, I  figured the rain would wash some of the dirt off. W R O N G ! The car had a thick layer of MUD on it after the storm passed. I ended up washing all three cars. We had taken the Pilot to run errands, after all it was the only car that was clean. It should rain tomorrow, since I washed three cars today. Shot with the Canon 30D, ISO-100, F4, EF 24-105 IS at 24mm, 1/1250 sec.

Final Run Through – 100th Post – April 9, 2013

Final Run Through

The worship band does one last run through every Saturday night before the 5PM service. I was able to walk around and take several pictures. I am one of hundreds of volunteers that help make Palm Valley Church “happen” every week. I am part of the media team, and generaly run a video camera. The worship band in AWESOME!!! Taken with the Canon 30D, ISO-400, F4, EF 24-105 F4 L lens at 24mm, 1/100 sec. Processed in Lightroom. No flash. This is my 100th post this year. A milestone. This blog is a tribute, and a prayer for Pastor Greg Rohlinger, and my buddy BJ Starr. I pray daily for healing, a miracle from God Almighty for both of these men.

Darius & Tashawn – April 8, 2018

Darius & Tashawn

Pastor Darius and Tashawn were walking through the worship center between services on Sunday, and I was able to capture this photo. Shot with the Canon 30D, ISO-100, F8, 1/60 sec, with the 580 EX II camera mounted for fill.

Seagull – April 7, 2013

Seagull

This image was shot from the deck of a cruise ship, entering Mexican waters. It was an anniversary cruise. I took a lot of pictures, but this one really stands out as far as the background being blow out, (bokah) and the seagull being tack sharp. Canon 30D, ISO-100, F5.6, 300mm, 1/320 sec.

PVC Mens Breakfast – April 6, 2013

PVC mens Breakfast

This image was shot, (pun intended) Saturday morning out at the General Joe Foss Shooting Complex in Buckeye, Arizona. Palm Valley Church, Mens breakfast, a short message from paster Ben, then off to the range. Couple items to note: I have been married to my beautiful wife Sheri Lynn for 24 + years, and have almost always worked Saturdays. This is the first Saturday, Sunday off, in a row. The first of many. Yea!!! Also Brian is shooting his brand new 9mm, and the shells are from 3 different pictures combined into this one. Shot with the Canon 30D, ISO-100, F8, 1/160 sec, with the new EF 24-105 F4 L lens, at 58mm, and the 580EX II camera mounted for fill light.

83rd Ave EXIT ONLY – April 5, 2013

83rd Ave - Exit Only

This image was shot just after sun down. The shutter was open 10 seconds so you could see motion in the tail lights on the right side, and motion in the head lights on the left side of the picture. Why 83rd Ave exit? There is a car pool parking lot, with its own entrance/exit from the car pool lanes to head east into Phoenix, with very little traffic in the evenings, so I could set up a tripod, and play with long exposures till I got the results I was looking for. Not much traffic in the car pool lane this late at night. Shot with the Canon 30D, ISO-400, F29 to keep things tack sharp through out the image, 10 seconds, and 50mm. As mentioned on my tripod.

Lake Powell – April 4, 2013

Lake Powell

The Mens group from Palm Valley Church went to Lake Powell in 2005. I took my Olympus C75UZ and 2 memory cards, and a portable hard drive to back up the cards I brought. I took hundreds of pictures on this trip. This is one of my favorite pictures from the trip, black and white processing in Photoshop, originally shot in color. Olympus C750UZ, ISO-100, f4.5, 1/250 sec, 6mm wide.

Decals – April 3, 2013

Decals1

Decals2

Cruz this ones for you. The top image is decals in our livingroom under a window. The lower image is decals in our kitchen, above the cabinets. A bird is sitting on the air conditioning vent.  Sheri Lynn and Jazmin installed both sets of decals. They look great, are removable and didn’t cost much. These are the 1st images with the EF24-105mm F4 IS “L” glass. Shot with the Canon 30D, ISO-100, F8, pop up flash, (I was in a hurry) 105mm, 1/60th of a second.

Silhouette Downtown Phoenix – April 2, 2013

Downtown Phoenix

I left for work late. I normally get to work before the sun comes up. I had to stop and shoot this image out of the window. Taken from the I-10 freeway, right at the stack, where I-17 and I-10 meet. YES, I did wait for the plane to get into the “valley” between the buildings. Shot April 2, 2005, at 5.23 AM, with my Canon Rebel. ISO-400, F13, 1/100 sec, at 50mm, hand held. I used this image for a couple of years as my business card. You never know when you are going to take a picture that you will love and never get tired of. Be prepared!

April Fools Day – April 1, 2013

Snow on Camelback Mtn

Snow on Camelback Mtn 2

So for the first time in over 80 years, it snowed in Phoenix on April first. The top picture is Camelback mountain, and the bottom picture is the road that leads up to the Camels back. I had to use chains and four wheel drive to even get into the area. The ski lift is normally open till early March, this will be the latest the ski lift will have be open in decads.
