Cactus Flower – May 9, 2014
BJ Starr lived in South Phoenix on an acre that had lots of cactus on it. When the cactus would break off, he would plant it in a pot. That’s where this plant came from. I still think about my friend Billy Starr often.
Roof Access – May 8, 2014
This is the view from the top of the roof looking towards Warner and the 101. I love having roof access. Its amazing how much was done in the last week.
Vents for the air handling system.
This is a small part of the equipment that was craned onto the roof last week. Most of that equipment is fully assembled, OK probably not, but a lot of it is bolted together.
Looking towards the 101, you can see the cooling towers, and in the empty space on the right, I believe will go the back up generators.

More 2×4 steel studs going up. Lots of new drywall work as well. Spaces are being defined……. I wonder if I’ll get my own office…… Just a thought!

The framing crew is knocking it out of the park. I’m visiting the job site almost every week, and I can’t believe how much work gets done…..

GoDaddy’s New Tempe Call Center – May 1, 2014
Lots of work going on. I’m not sure how many trades are on site, but there are between 75-100 workers on site each day. Over 1500 photographs from August 2013 – present can be seen here.
This is a form for one of the light poles. Ever wonder whats in the concrete base of a light pole…….
Lots of re-bar, electrical conduit to bring in the power, and electrical conduit to “ground” the power. You can see the coil of copper wire at the bottom, and attached to the re-bar.
I was not allowed on parts of the job site, as they were using a crane to lift the equipment to the roof. Large, heavy, equipment, so the area around the crane was off limits, and so was the roof. š I really like going up on the roof. Later on this week, I’ll be able to see all the changes that they made on the roof. š The number one concern on the job site is and always be ” S A F E T Y ”

Fire proofing is almost done. This was shot from the 1st floor, he is on the second floor.
Painting crews are trying to stay ahead of the other trades. Electricians, painters, plumbers, fire proofing, steel workers, air conditioning, insulation workers, window installers, door installers, fire sprinkler fitters, are all on site and really moving along. The framers, drywall teams, along with the people polishing the walkways. I’m sure there are more trades on site. There was a crew washing the external block walls with the small square windows. There are crews that are sweeping…. did I mention there are a lot of people working on the site to complete this project on time?

ASU Graduation – April 29, 2014
Jazmin graduated from the Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College at ASU today. This was an intimate graduation. 20 of the seniors that have been student teachers this year at Littleton School District. Their students got to go on a field trip to see the teachers in their cap and gowns. The program was very nice. Jazmin’s parents and grandparents attended. Jazmin also took pictures with her mentor teacher and each of her students. Her kids just love her. Its amazing to see what a difference a teacher makes in their students lives, in even just 1 year. Sheri Lynn and I are very proud of Jazmin’s accomplishments.
GoDaddy’s New Tempe Call Center – April 25, 2014
Went by the job site yesterday. There must have been 75-100 different workers. Above shots from outside, ground work continuing,Ā both water lines/fire hydrant lines, and drainage. Paint going on a few of the exterior panels, and the inside of the roof area is all painted.
Steel framing inside and out continues. I cant believe how much work got done in the last week.
The interior changes are really accelerating. The fire proofing material is 80-90% done. The windows are 65-75% done. I imagine that by next week, that the windows and doors will all be in place.
Elevators are in. This area is still off limits, but I imagine the areas around the elevators themselves will be buttoned up fairly quickly. Floor polishing is still going on in the walkways.
OK, you’ve seen a similar shot before. I really like the reflections, and patterns they make. Over 1500 images shot so far, and all can be seen here. Happy Easter – April 20, 2014
We had a total of 8 Easter Services at Palm Valley Church. 1 Friday night, 2 services Saturday night, 3 services Sunday morning at the main campus in Goodyear, and 2 Sunday services at the Buckeye campus. Pastor Ryan Nunez spoke at all 8 services.
Sunday Goodyear 10am service, the overflow of 300-350 sat in the lobby watching the service on TV. We had 1477 adults attend this service.

GoDaddy’s new Tempe Call Center – April 17, 2014
Some times you look at something in a different way….. Reflections from water, windows, mirrors, …. can create some very unique patterns.
This is a cooling tower, in a separate building.
Equipment is being added everywhere. I need to ask Vince what this room is housing. Its at the corner closest to Warner and the 101 freeways. In the area of the kitchen/cafe area.

1st floor, polishing the floor. This will be a main walkway, speedway, course, whatever you want to call it.
2nd floor covering to keep the polished floor clean. Both of these areas are in phase 2. You can also see lots of metal studs for drywall. There is some drywall work that is new in the last 10 days.

Lots of changes in 10 days at the call center. This corner is mostly buttoned up.
The roof is very close to being finished. The foam and rubber roofing is 90-95% complete. The air handling / equipment areas are filling up, and being painted. Today was about 92 degrees outside. The roof felt 15-20 degrees hotter with all of the white reflective materials.

GoDaddy’s New Tempe Call Center – April 9, 2014
A stack of round duct stands at attention, waiting to be deployed. The inside has undergone some major work since I was last inside the building. Lots of walls are going up, the second floor has been poured. Fire sprinkler lines are going in.
This area will contain men’s and woman’s restrooms, along with some utility rooms, and maybe an office or two.
The main entrance is growing closer to being done. All of the major steel work seems to be finished.

Fireproofing the steel. The plastic is to catch most of the over spray. The rest is just swept up. More Zachary – March 20, 2014
More pictures of Zachary. The top image is over sharpened, and the contrast is boosted up, except on the skin tones. Zachary is such a good little man. ALWAYS so happy. He is looking at ….. his dad! If he sat still for more than a minute or two, I could get him to look anywhere I wanted, as long as his dad was there. Even crawling and running around, he always knew where dad was. DJ and Zachary were a blast to photograph. Hope you enjoy the pictures!!! Estrella Mountain Ranch – March 19, 2014
I took a couple of shots out at Estrella Mountain Park, around the lake. Weekends there are photographers all over the place. I was out here on a Monday, and not a lot of photographers. Lots of very beautiful areas for portraits. Canon 5D Mark II, EF 17-40 F4 L lens, both images at 17mm. I was wanting to be very wide.
Zachary – March 18, 2014
DJ and Zachary wanted some family photo’s so we made a trip to the Estrella Mountain Ranch, lake area. Zachary was not feeling 100%, but you would never know it watching him walk, and crawl around. DJ and I were kept busy chasing the little guy. This is one of my favorites of the day. Other images from the shoot can be seen here.Ā All images shot with the Canon 5D Mark II, EF 24-105 F4 L lens, with a .6 ND filter to knock down the sun just a little, and then a Canon 580 EX II Speedlight was camera mounted for flash fill. Full Moon – March 16, 2014 9:30PM
So the difference between a DSLR with a “full frame” sensor, and a “cropped” APS C sized sensor is very noticable when you are shooting a full moon. Tripod mounted, both shot within 5 minutes or so of each other. Both using the EF 70-200 F2.8 IS “L” lens. The left moon is shot at 200 mm with the Canon 5D Mark II, with a 35mm, or full frame sensor. The right image was shot with my Canon 30D with a APS C, or cropped sensor. The 200 mm lens gets multiplied by 1.6, the crop factor of the lens, equaling 320 mm. I’l post a shot tomorrow using the EF 17-40 F4 “L” lens, at 17 mm, from both cameras to show the difference at the other end of the spectrum.
Full disclosure….. the image above is the size the moon appears at 200mm, and 320mm respectively. The top pictureĀ has the exact same perspective, I just cropped the moon at full size to enahance the difference.
Steel Tree – March 14, 2014
So Josh, Josiah, and James were supposed to go shoot after work on Tuesday. One of us came up with an excuse, the other two had a blast. We went to the Gilbert riparian preserve. About 6 or 7 miles from work. The weather was nice, the area is starting to green up, lots of birds, and bunnies. Josiah was shooting a rare ivory-billed woodpecker in a tree. I was able to shoot a dodo, or a doodoo, I’ve heard it both ways. I always enjoy shooting with other photographers, as I always come away learning something new, or gaining a new perspective. Josh, hope you can make it next time!
Palm Tree Trimming – March 10, 2014
So I set up the Canon 30D to take a shot every 5 minutes, and trimmed the first of 3 palm trees. 1 picture of the tree, before, and 1 picture of the tree, after. Thats not going to be a very exiciting time lapse video…. Second tree, I set up to take a picture every 1 minute 30 seconds. 5 pictures total….. 3re and last palm tree, I took a picture every 10 seconds…. heres the results….
Palm Valley Church – Sunday March 9, 2014
Praise and Worship team Saturday night.
Pastor Ryan Nunez, addressing Pastor Greg Rohlingers failing health. On Tuesday or Wednesday last week Greg was put into induced coma, with a ventilator. He has double pneumonia, as a result of his MSA, the spincter muscle in his throat is not working correctly, so he has aspirated, breathed liquids, or food into his lungs. As a church we are praying specifically for him to be healed from his double pneumonia, so he can spend some time with his wife and children….

Tempe Call Center – March 6, 2014
There were burgers galore at the roof topping off event at GoDaddy’s new Tempe call center.
This wide opening is a window that can be fully opened in good weather, the cafe will be inside. The beam above everyone’s head is the one that was signed last week.
The beam will get coated with fire proofing material.

The building will be VERY open, and you will be able to see from one end to the other.

I love to be able to go up to the roof. You really get a scope of how big this building will be.
I’m on the end of the building from phase 2, looking back towards phase 1. The roof has multiple layers of foam insulation, with a rubber material over the top of that. The roof is designed to funnel the water from the building and move it into the lake across the street.

Roof Topping Off Party – February 28th 2014
Its nice to be invited back onto the jobsite again. This is the “Roof Topping Off” event. I was able to walk around the jobsite and take pictures. Things are really moving along now.
Lots of construction workers on the job. As always SAFETY is always a big factor, as I put on a bright orange vest and hard hat.
Yes! I added the Go Daddy sticker in post. You can see the steel through the windows. Part of the design of the building must be to have the square knock outs above the windows, or thats where the steel awnings will be attached.
I was being artistic, call it photograpic license.
This view is through the other side, right by where the cafe will be. I’ve now seen the artists renderings of the inside of the building…. I’m sworn to secrecy. It will dazzel and amaze you. I can’t wait to try out the great big ______! And to also try out the ______ _____!

Lots of steel work going on. The tour was timed for the workers to be on lunch, so the jobsite was very quiet. I’m amazed at how much has been done since last time I was on site.
Lunch was provided, and the food was excellent. Vince did a great job of keeping this big of a group safe, while giving us an informative tour. While we were there,Ā concrete was being poured, steel was being put into place, lots of sub contractors were on site getting work done.
